The 7-11 year olds who make up the 30 members of The African Children's Choir have all lost one or both parents to poverty or disease. They represent the 11 million African children who are AIDS orphens. Singing original, tribal music passed down from their ancestors, the choir has spread their uplifting songs and call to action during their worldwide tour. Money raised through their performance funds the choir members' education as well as provides food and hygiene products, water containers, medical care, and trauma couseling to their peers in Africa who are in desperate need. The choir has toured for more than 20 years, each year with a new group of children and a renewed commitment to spreading their hope and reching out for help. The group has established schools and provided educational scholarships in Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Sudan, and South Africa.
